Adult stem cells (ASCs) are undifferentiated cells isolated from adult tissues like blood, bone marrow and adipose. ASCs have self proliferation and differentiation avilities that are relatively limited compared to embryonic stem cells. However, ASCs have been used to treat injuries or diseases in clinics because they can differentiate into different cell types of body parts and have no ethical issue unlike embryonic stem cells.
ASCs are able to treat injured joints and ointments as a therapeutic purpose. In addition, the treatment of ASCs can regenerate neural cells of spinal cord or brain which are known to be not able to regenerate. Advanced application of ASCs would contribute to human well-being by improvement of health condition.
